Studio Casoli presents campo 8784_B/N, a solo exhibition by Shay Frisch, whose practice explores the theme of energy as a malleable and manipulable element, capable of impacting space and consequently interacting with the viewer.
Shay Frisch’s research unfolds through the creation of electromagnetic fields generated by sequential combinations of electrical adapters. Connected to one another, these elements are removed from their everyday use and transformed into
structures through which an energy flow passes.

Relationship is another fundamental aspect of the artist’s poetics: every element is essential, it draws energy from the others and, in turn, transmits it, contributing to the creation of an immersive environment. A dialectic characterised by a dualism in which matter and spirit, complexity and simplicity, abstraction and induction, come together, interact and shed light on the immaterial dimension.
The title campo 8784_B/N follows the technical nomenclature adopted by the artist: each work is identified as a single “campo”, followed by an abbreviation indicating the number of components used and their colour.
The exhibition itinerary is further enriched by a site-specific installation located outside the gallery premises, at the nearby Tempietto del Carmelo, granted for use by the Special Superintendency of the Municipality of Rome.
Shay Frisch has exhibited his works in museums and at major international events in various countries. In 2013 the Galleria Nazionale d’Arte Moderna e Contemporanea in Rome hosted a solo exhibition of his work, curated by Achille Bonito Oliva. Other solo exhibitions include: MAM Museum of Modern Art, Shanghai (2025); Riso Museo d’Arte Moderna e Contemporanea della Sicilia, Palermo – a joint solo exhibition with Christian Boltanski (2020); MACRO Museo d’Arte Contemporanea, Rome (2019); ZAC – Zisa Ar& Contemporanee, Palermo (2018); MAC Museo de Arte Contemporáneo, Lima (2017); Fondazione San Fedele, Milan (2017); MAC Museo de Arte Contemporáneo, Santhiago (2016); CIAC Centro Internazionale per l’Arte Contemporanea, Castello Colonna, Genazzano (2015); Herzliya Museum of Contemporary Art, Herzliya (2011).
His works have been exhibited at the Chengdu Biennale at Tianfu Museum of Contemporary Art, China (2026); in two edition of the Venice Biennale, the 57th and 59th International Art Exhibitions (2017 and 2022); in three editions of the Bienal de Curitiba at Museu Oscar Niemeyer, Brasil (2015, 2017 e 2019); at Milan Expo (2015); at the Bienal del Fin del Mundo in Valparaíso, Chile (2015) and Mar del Plata, Argentina (2014); at the Festival dei Due Mondi in Spoleto (2012). In 2012, he exhibited for the first time in the US at Haunch of Venison gallery in New York and in 2018 he presented an installation at the Reggia di Caserta in Naples. His works are held in numerous public and private collections, including the permanent collection of the Galleria Nazionale d’Arte Moderna e Contemporanea in Rome.
